Global Angel Wings Project:
Gradient painted & patterned feathers
Grade 6

In this project students learn color mixing strategies as they learn about practicing street artist Colette Miller's Global Angel Wings Project that started in L.A. and has since spread across the globe.
First each student is challenged to match a randomly selected color swatch using only primary colors. Then they learn to create gradients of color using washes. Lastly, each student draws an assortment of patterned feathers on their gradient paintings and cuts them out.
The students' feathers are eventually combined to make one large interactive art piece that encourages engagement from its viewers.
